EmpowHer Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 2003. EmpowHer Institute supports low and moderate-income females to develop entrepreneurship as a career option and encourage lifelong learning while developing a meaningful and satisfying lifestyle.
The goal of EmpowHer Institute is to provide early intervention and prevention programs to reduce the dropout rate of high school students by teaching entrepreneurial skills to middle and high school students who are at risk of educational failure, teen pregnancy, truancy, and juvenile delinquency. The strategies are designed to expose youth to the possibilities of entrepreneurship as a means to overcome poverty and to meaningfully serve their communities.
The EmpowHer-Building Entrepreneur Skills for Tomorrow (E-BEST) Program is a collaborative partnership between EmpowHer Institute and Middle and High Schools. In addition to the E-BEST Program is the Empowered Girls Workshop Series. One in four female students will not graduate with a regular high school diploma in the standard, four-year time period. The Empowered Girls Workshops provide the tools and resources that underserved girls need to gain the voice, ability, and problem-solving capacity to realize their full potential. Through various exercises, we connect with these girls and help them discover their innate talents and capabilities. We inspire them to unlock their own entrepreneurial genius. We bring in successful women business leaders and business owners who share their journey with our girls so that they learn that all challenges are surmountable. All programming is designed to be fun and interactive so that the girls stay engaged in the workshops and become more passionate about school.
