Linking Learning to "Real Life" Experiences

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The purpose of Building Entrepreneur Skills for Tomorrow (BEST) is to provide early intervention and prevention programs to reduce the dropout rate of high school students by teaching entrepreneurial skills to middle and high school students who are at risk of educational failure, teen pregnancy, truancy, and juvenile delinquency. The strategies are designed to expose youth to the possibilities of entrepreneurship as a means to overcome poverty and to meaningfully serve their communities.

The BEST Program is a richly supported entrepreneurial course that teaches the skills necessary to start and maintain a thriving small business. Students are engaged by challenging and exciting projects, encouraged by mentors in the field, and motivated to work hard by a collaborative and competitive culminating exhibition of student work. The BEST Program will be incorporated into the students’ curriculum.

Your skills and talents can make the difference and give our students real life experiences with real business people. Download the descriptions of the various volunteer roles.

If you are interested in working with our students, you must complete the detailed application and return it to EmpowHer Institute. Because of the partnership with Network for Training Entrepreneurs (NFTE) in the schools, NFTE will perform the necessary background check. We hope you understand that we want to protect these children as if they were our own.
